My sister I did get to go to some scout-type camp a few years in a row because our mom was the camp nurse. She didn't get paid and we went for free. But we weren't scouts of any kind. I liked it for the boating and the fires and the knives and the knot-tying. The cumbaya-factor was a little nauseating. But not being members of the group gave us the freedom to not sing along and to not have to earn badges or patches. We just got to chill and and whittle and spit.
