So I spoke with the girls. Several times. The situation was such that I felt that older sis should have the opportunity to care for. We talked about when they lived in a home and were able to care for there. That is when I first knew them and saw them all of the time. At that time (2 or 3 years ago?) I took in for a couple weeks until they were settled into a home together where they were allowed to keep her. The mom had no part in caring for her and was happy, and thriving. It was only after they had to be split into two homes that refused to keep her that went back to their Mom. They not only can , but have cared for her well. I remember us all talking about 7AM walks (ok, maybe fighting over who's turn it was for the 7am walk they ARE teens after all) and finding just the right toys, food and bones that were best for her. They needed to be taught about the medical care required. Heck, they didn't get such treatment when they were. I out a schedule of vaccinations and checkups, and heartworm meds, etc. I also included addresses for local vets and Petco stores with vaccination clinics, the town hall info with the forms to license her, etc. We check in with each other regularly. We plan to have play dates with my pooch. Oldest sis was incredibly grateful and remarked at how big and strong she had gotten in these few months. (She showed good judgment of her overall health.) was thrilled to them and left with them happily. Because they had in me to care for her and I have in them to care for her or ask for help when they need it , I feel I made the right choice. And because I gave them this second with her, they trust me enough to always for any help at all. They haven't had a lot of faithful, trustworthy adults in their lives. Older sis offered me money, but I told her to keep it for her future care. Anyhow, it feels right and good for all involved. And I'll be in regular contact to monitor the situation.
