But neither of us feels overly burdened by taxes anyway. And presumably we would be eligible for the same tax breaks due any 'household' or, if we have, family? + Social security for surviving spouse again, I'm not sure exactly how this works. But we're each planning for our retirements financially anyway and not really factoring in any government contributions. + Pension for surviving spouse irrelevant, neither of us is likely ever to qualify for any pension. + Social support for survivor after death. I this would be there from anyone who's known how we've lived and grown together. + "Better at a 'fair and even' asset split if the relationship fails."
