Think about what you use it for. Mainly bike paths and side streets, longer distances across town on roads, off-road trail riding, looking cool down by the beach? There are some great FOLDING city bikes out there, much lighter than couples wants flirt they used to make them. You can put fat cushy tires on, a basket on the front or rack on the rear for groceries, a good range of gears deal with hills but still quick on the flats, and **bonus** they fold up to store in a corner of your front hallway or garage, take on the train or bus, bring safe inside at your destination, put in the trunk of your or a friend's car. Best and most versatile single first bike one can have, in my opinion. Brompton, Dahon, Bike Friday are industry leaders, there are others but make sure it's made of light tubing not old cast-iron/gas pipe tubing as some used to be.
