we're the libertarians in the two party sex system. If you look back on the history of bi people in LGBT politics it's less a matter of forming community or having a unified identity and more a matter of iconoclastic weirdos going against the grain ( ie. Rockaway organizing an orange juice boycott, Califia taking on the anti-pornography movement, punks like Donaldsen etc.) I also think women form certain kinds of social networks that are regulated by who belongs to the community and who doesn't. And men tend to form dominance hierarchies based on resources and power (believe me, I work in one). However people who have a more nebulous relationship to gender just don't have the same kinds of hierarchies or the same maternal or paternal authority roles. Given the choice I MUCH prefer female social networks to male which is why I out here so much but I do also kind of appreciate the nebulous gender dynamics of the bi community. I just think they are especially ineffective at enforcing rules for better or worse. So when random people post "if u need a bj let me know" in bifo there isn't anyone to step in and be the adult and tell them to behave. I'm eating pie in front of my air conditioner watching. I'm not going to do it.
